The copywriter should be able convey his main ideas concisely and clearly in just two or three sentences. Brevity is, as per the old saying "Brevity's the sister of genius." It's much more enjoyable to listen to the advertisement "live" rather than hear a boring list of facts, advantages or even services. Advertising must be visually appealing at least in some manner. As a picture you would want to look at it for long periods of time. The copywriter has to make something real from advertisements. It is possible that the reader might only realize it is advertising after having read it. You can also convince readers of the message that the copywriter wishes to convey. The article should be persuasive to convince people to believe in the message or, better yet, to motivate them to take the steps required by them.

 A skilled copywriter will always be able to find a job that pays well, because they don't "just do nothing but lie around".

 I'm not going to impose my personal opinion, but it seems to me that these are the primary characteristics of a successful copywriter, and it's extremely difficult to work in the field without these. While it is believed that a writer is only one who edits or writes text and alters the thoughts of another author's copywriter, I think this is not true. The copywriter is almost an author. He ought to be able to create his own unique copy. You can test yourself by writing a few lines on any subject. If you can write a text in a clear and concise manner, then you can confidently state that you are a copywriter.
