Simple tips that can help you get rid off grout and grime buildup easily

Grout and grime are kind of best friends. They are always together and removing them is a time-consuming process. It is a challenging task, but is definitely possible with some careful effort.

Grout and grime buildup can lead to a dull appearance of the surface. Especially to the appearance of tiles. The build-up can make tiles or the surfaces appear lacking lustre and devoid of any colour or vibrance. Now, let us get to the main point, how to remove them. We will take a look at how to remove them without damaging the surface, especially the surface of the tiles.

How to remove grout and grime buildup?

Removing the grout and grime buildup is a lengthy procedure. It involves a lot of cleaning procedures, but it all starts with a good scrubbing.

1. Scrubbing with warm water

Pour warm water over the grout and grime build-up. Take a bristled brush and start scrubbing. Remember to follow a circular motion while scrubbing. If you don’t have a bristled brush, you can also use an old toothbrush. Allow it to dry.

2. Vinegar

After the first step now comes the role of vinegar. Since vinegar is acidic in nature, it is useful in breaking up the tough bonds of grime and grout. To make a vinegar cleaning solution, one should mix vinegar with warm water. Fill the spray bottle with half part vinegar and the other half with water. Apply the solution on the grout and grime buildup and allow it to settle down for a good ten to fifteen minutes. Then start slowly brushing in a circular motion and see the grime and grout be loosened up.

3. Baking Soda

Just like how grout and grime are best friends, so is baking soda and vinegar. Use baking paste by combining baking soda with water. Scrub the tile surface with this mixture to remove the remaining grout and grime and also to add that extra shine.

4. Hydrogen Peroxide

For mild grout and grime buildup vinegar and baking soda is enough. But for those moderate stain buildup, you need a strong solvent such as Hydrogen Peroxide. Now there are two ways in which we can use hydrogen peroxide. Either use it directly or combine it with baking soda. Apply the solution, allow it some time to settle, and start scrubbing.

5. Bleach

Use bleach to remove those hardened stains, especially mold. Bleach can be used to remove the most stubborn grout and grime buildup along with the mold. While using bleach we have to be careful, as it is dangerous and toxic. So, take all the needed precautions like gloves, eyewear protection. Make sure the area has a good amount of ventilation because the buildup of bleach smell is potentially harmful to health. Apply bleach to the surface, allowing it to work its magic for some time. Then start scrubbing in a circular motion.

These are the most efficient ways to remove grout and grime buildup. It will take time, as the probability of doing the above-mentioned steps for more than one time is high. We will have to do it multiple times to remove the stains and maybe for multiple days for the desired result. If you don’t want to do it yourself or the process seems too long or tiresome, contact the best cleaners. They would do the required steps without damaging the surface, with the appropriate cleaning solutions.
