Protecting your personal data and business data should always be a priority for any one, if you have stored all your information into a digital form. So every one should be fully trained about cyber security awareness and keep strong password which would prove difficult for the hackers to break. If the password is weak then even the most advanced cyber security system will not be sufficient to defend your online accounts. The hackers also get updated and adopt different modern methods to breach your personal and business data and rob you of your hard earned money and they can steal all your valuable data. So a strong and complex password practice should be adapted which keeps you prevented from cyber attacks.

Use Multi – Step authentication methods which can protect you from becoming another victim of cyber attack. Password security has always been a major concern because password is used for everything we do online, like logging into our bank accounts, shopping accounts, emails, social media sites, etc. So it becomes difficult for a person to remember different password for different logging account. Many people then generally keep a common password for variety of sites and also use the names of their pets, family members, date of birth and other easily identifiable information making the security weak. This may make their sites vulnerable to hacking, by brutal force of hackers using sophisticated and specialised softwares.

  • Create Unique Password – The password should be unique and difficult for hackers to crack. The password should be made by including a combination of symbols and case sensitive along with usual alpha numeric characters. The password should extend beyond the average of twelve digits using key spaces containing a mix of upper and lower case letters. Use of pass phrase is also recommended. Keeping a common password for all the sites is extremely risky and if the attacker is able to crack one of these passwords they can potentially access every single account. So different password should be used for different accounts to ensure the data to remain safe and secure. It can be a very herculean task to remember different passwords for different sites. At this point the help and support of password manager can be of a tremendous support. The manager will keep the record of all these passwords safe, by storing all the logging details for all the websites and recall the password that you require for a certain site. The password manager logs you to the required genuine site and thus protects you from getting hacked.
  • To Change Password – To keep your online account safe and secure all users should update and change passwords on a regular basis, this prevents your account from being hacked. If the hacker is on the verge of hacking your account then the hackers will have to start from beginning if you are periodically changing the password.
  • Two factor authentication – With two factor Authentication ( 2FA) or multi factor Authentication (MFA) you create another wall of defence to protect your account from being hacked, when you pair this with your password. The hacker would still need an additional code to log in even if he has been successful in securing your password. When you try to log a certain site with your password having two factor authentication facility then a code will be delivered to you in a number of ways including by calls, by sms, etc on your registered mobile no. This 2FA is an additional factor to further verify the identity of the user prior to granting access to data. The code sent on registered mobile should be entered within a certain amount of time to confirm the authentication request before granting access. If one of the two factors fails then logging cannot be effected.
